The Process
I conducted research into the websites of leading competitors in the architecture and design space. This helped me gain insights into industry trends how other firms presented their portfolios, services and brand stories. I noticed that many successful firms focused on clean layouts with minimal distractions, allowing their architectural projects to take centre stage. With this I prioritised creating a streamlined user experience that would showcase Healy McKeown’s work without overwhelming the user.
A key element of the design process was maintaining cohesiveness between the new brand identity and the website. The firm’s rebrand prominently featured a square and line motif, which I felt would translate perfectly into the digital space. I incorporated these elements throughout the design to ensure consistency, using squares and lines in various components such as buttons, and image galleries. This subtle approach helped give the site a distinctive look.
To enhance the user experience further I integrated animations that were subtle yet effective. These animations were strategically placed to guide users through the site allowing interactions to feel smooth and responsive. For example, images and text would animate into view as users scrolled adding a dynamic quality to the otherwise clean and minimalist design.
